The International League of Peoples’ Struggles (ILPS) Australia and national democratic organizations led by Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) Australia joined hundreds of thousands of people on August 3 in Sydney, Australia, to condemn the US-Israel genocide in Palestine. They participated in the protest called “March for Humanity, Save Gaza,” led by the Palestine Action Group Sydney.
Despite heavy rain, the people, carrying Palestinian flags, placards, and pots, resolutely stood as they called for peace and for aid to be delivered to the people of Gaza. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange and several Australian officials joined the protesters.
From October 7, 2023 to July 26, 59,733 Palestinians have been directly killed by US-Israel bombs and bullets. Hunger and malnutrition have killed at least 175 Palestinians, including 93 children. The events currently unfolding in Gaza have been described as the “most brutal genocide” in human history.
“We stand in unwavering solidarity to the people of Palestine and their historic struggle for national liberation and self-determination. We condemn the US-Zionist regime that is responsible for this ongoing genocide,” Bayan-Australia stated.
Aside from condemning the genocide in Gaza, Filipino activists also denounced the US-Marcos regime’s subservience, which endangers the Filipino people.
