Ang Bayan Ngayon » Vendors demand anew the reopening of Wowee Market in Pasay City

Around 200 Wowee Market vendors and workers protested anew on March 23 at the Pasay City Hall to demand the reopening of their market.

The vendors said their papers are complete and missing only the mayor’s permit. They have been out of work for three months since Mayor Emi Calixto ordered the market’s closure on December 19, 2025.

Police attempted to break up the protest action, dragging and arresting two participants, including a senior citizen who joined as a regular customer supporting the vendors’ struggle.

Karapatan NCR said that Calixto deployed a swarm of police to assault and arrest those fighting for their livelihood instead of listening to the pleas of her constituents.

The vendors and workers said that despite police and the Pasay local government harassment, they remain firm and hopeful that their livelihood of 23 years will be restored.
