PRWC » Remembering the Legacy of the Tapi 7

On April 27, 2026, the Apolinario Gatmaitan Command-NPA, commemorates the first anniversary of the Tapi 7 martyrdom. Across Negros island, the entire revolutionary forces raise its red banners in a solemn salute to Reniel “Ka Randy” Cellon, Maryjane “Ka Shonie” Magquilat, Charity “Ka Mayang” Amacan, Glenda “Ka Glendyl” Tinio Mejares, Johnrey “Ka Jai” Mejares, Dee “Ka Dahlia” Supelanas, and “Ka Pitong” Bagacay.

These dedicated cadres devoted their lives to serving marginalized communities long deprived of basic social services, where exploitation is a daily reality. They were teachers, doctors, and lawyers, bringing essential aid and support to areas abandoned by the reactionary government. More than just addressing needs, their work embodied the core mission of the revolutionary movement which is to build a society free from exploitation and oppression, where the welfare of the people is the highest priority. Together with the exploited masses, they confronted the fascist state machinery and fought for genuine land reform, justice, and democracy. Deeply committed to the masses, they earned the people’s profound trust, respect, and enduring affection.

Their commitment was most evident in the struggle against the HAPI Palm Oil Plantation. As the state machinery facilitated the brutal dislocation of farming communities to favor corporate interests, the Tapi 7 stood as a bulwark for the Negrosanon masses. They utilized their intellect, skills, and strength to help the people assert their rights to the land.

No matter how hard the US-Marcos Jr regime attempts to distort truth and frame their martyrdom as a sign of defeat, reality remains crystal clear: their legacy is immortalized in the continuing struggle. Many of the remaining red fighters and party cadres, inspired by their sacrifices and contributions, remain steadfast not only in delivering social services, and organizing the people, but also in mobilizing them towards building the people’s democratic government.

Their lives serve as a testament to the fact that while a revolutionary may fall, the revolution itself is invincible.

For every comrade who falls in the line of duty, hundreds more emerge from the fields, factories, and villages. Driven by the example of the Tapi 7, a new generation of fighters rises, fueled by an unyielding resolve to advance the national democratic revolution toward total victory.
