The New People’s Army (NPA)–Camarines Sur (Eduardo Olbara Command) refuted the 9th ID’s claim that it had an encounter with the people’s army in Barangay Pararao, Balatan last April 9. According to the NPA, it has no army unit present in the area, so no clash occurred.
The 9th ID indiscriminately fired for twenty minutes and even deployed two helicopters. Soldiers wasted public funds amid the deepening economic crisis being suffered by the Bicolano masses and the entire Filipino people.
The NPA-Camarines Sur said the military fabricated the supposed encounter to justify militarization and the sowing of terror in the barangay and municipality. The soldiers even used Barangay Captain Cherry Renoloyan to speak and attest to the alleged clash. They followed this up with a disinformation campaign in the barangay.
The people’s army further said it was an even bigger lie that soldiers presented several documents and cellphones, claiming these were seized after the supposed clash. “These staged shows by the military are nothing new,” the unit said.
The NPA-Camarines Sur called on Bicolanos to oppose and fight any spread of fake news and disinformation against the people’s army. It also urged the people to expose the human rights abuses committed by the fascist state troops.
