NPA ambushes Philippine Army soldiers In Ifugao Province

By CPP Information Bureau

The Nona Del Rosario Command, New People's Army-Ifugao, launched a successful ambush against the 86th Infantry Battalion yesterday, at 1030am, between the barangays of Cawayan (Asipulo) and Ambasa (Lamut). Trustworthy sources of the revolutionary movement report that as of press time, at least three soldiers were killed, four were critically wounded, while some others are still missing.

Ka Wigan Moncontad, spokesperson for the NDRC-NPA explained, "This is the unit's response to the Party's call for all NPA units to launch the most number of tactical offensives against the Philippine Army. With more and more attacks against the mercenaries, not to mention the increasing number of guerilla fronts, revolutionary mass organizations, Party cadres and members, national democratic organizations and mass mobilizations, the revolutionary movement is sure to attain the strategic stalemate within its target timeframe."

According to the spokesperson, 86th IB elements have been frequenting their area of responsibility for almost two months now. "We monitor their movements through the assistance of the people themselves. After these uninvited guests leave, the people lets us know how they tried hard, but failed miserably, to pretend to be the people's soldiers."

He added that the Army convinces no one. "From helping out a little with the farmwork to demanding that they be called 'Comrade' instead of 'Sir'; these are all futile as they will always be the army of the ruling class."

Ka Wigan Moncontad pointed out that the Army itself exposes its true colors. "We have reports that they discourage the people from allowing Red fighters into their homes by saying that civilians will surely be caught between crossfires once they see NPAs at the barrio. In short, these palliative efforts are all but candy to a starving child. Time will come when instead of candy, physical force will be used to silence its wails. Such statement proves that the Army has no concern for the masses at all."

He added that the 86th IB's lies about casualties on the revolutionary movement's side will also be eventually exposed as a desperate move to save face. "Thanks to the support of our mass base, we successfully launched a tactical offensive against the people's enemies without any injury on our side. The Red commanders and fighters of the NDRC steadfastly followed the principles of guerilla warfare to be able to strike one against the 86th IB."

Ka Wigan Moncontad thus asserted that the NDRC adhered to the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law and its own iron discipline.

"The 86th IB entered our area of responsibility armed to the teeth and in pursuit of the NPA. The people understands that the presence of these lapdogs could mean nothing but grievance for their families, resources and property.

We therefore call on the people to help drive away all presence of enemy troops in the province of Ifugao and in the Cordilleras because only the NPA, not the Army, is actively advancing a people's war against whom the Army truly serves.
