Gabriela Women’s Partylist-Marikina leaders went to the Commission on Human Rights on July 17 to complain about the harassment and disruption caused by the hypocritical service activities of the 12th Civil Military Operations (CMO) Battalion in their community.

The group called for a thorough investigation into the military presence and the repeated “community outreach program” in Marikina.

Trolls swarmed the group’s page with violent comments after the group posted their action on Facebook.

Karapatan–National Capital Region condemned the coordinated online villification campaign against GWP-Marikina. It said the campaign aims to discredit the complaints, deter victims from speaking out, and divert attention from the real issues.

The group urged the Commission on Human Rights and other relevant authorities to conduct a fair, impartial, and thorough investigation into the complaints filed against the 12th CMO.

“We urge authorities to examine the broader pattern of militarization and the repeated reports of human rights violations in affected communities. We also call for the immediate halt of the coordinated disinformation campaign against the victims and human rights defenders,” Karapatan-NCR said.
