The New People’s Army (NPA)-Southwest Negros (Armando Sumayang Jr Command) thwarted the 47th IB’s attack on its unit in Sityo Matab-ang, Barangay Masaling, Cauayan, Negros Occidental on May 4. The people’s army counter-raid killed at least two 47th IB fascist soldiers.
NPA-Southwest Negros spokesperson Ka Andrea Guerrero reported that the Red fighters safely withdrew from the combat zone. She debunked 47th IB commander Lt. Col. Dennis Martinez’s claim that the Red army incurred injuries. Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Martinez openly covered up his troopers’ deaths.
An NPA-Southwest Negros unit launched a harassment operation three weeks before the counter-raid against 15th IB troops in Sitio Lomboy, Barangay Caliling, also in Cauayan town on April 18. The attack wounded two soldiers.
Guerrero said the NPA armed actions and efforts respond to the people’s call against the repression and intimidation by 47th and 15th IB troops whenever they launch focused military operations. The two battalions conduct their punitive operations in the mountainous parts of Cauayan, Candoni, Ilog and the cities of Sipalay and Kabankalan.
NPA-Southwest Negros thanked the continuous support of the Negrosanons for the Red army to carry out its armed actions and counter-attacks against the fascist military.
She said the revolutionary spirit of NPA-Southwest Negros continues to blaze to defend the interests and rights of the people. “Every day is a reason for the peasant and worker masses, long oppressed and exploited, to fight, to support and to take up arms,” Guerrero declared.
She added that the people’s democratic revolution through protracted people’s war will continue to advance amid sacrifices, hardships and the nonstop attacks of the Armed Forces of the Philippines against the people’s army and the people. Guerrero further declared that people’s war will continue to advance because it is the sole solution and path of the people oppressed and exploited by the rotten system.
