CPP: NPA offensives demonstrate ‘robust armed resistance’ to state terror

The recent string of successful tactical offensives and punitive actions conducted by the New People’s Army (NPA) and the people’s militias in many regions across the Philippines “clearly demonstrate the robust armed resistance…against all-out state terrorism” according to Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) Chief Information Officer Marco Valbuena.

According to the CPP, the successful ambush on 2 September by NPA-Quezon (Apolonio Mendoza Command) against the fascist troops of the 85th IB in Barangay Mapulot, Tagkawayan, Quezon belies the claim of the US-Marcos regime that it has “neutralized” many guerrilla zones, and “spits on the face” of Marcos Jr’s National Security Adviser General Eduardo Ano who said that the “insurgency will end” under the current administration.

The guerrillas, according to the CPP report, seized five high powered rifles (HPRs), which are much needed to further strengthen the people’s armed resistance against the campaign of state terrorism in Quezon, as well as across the country. This operation, the CPP stressed, “inspires more young people, especially among the peasant masses, to join the NPA in order to fight back and defend their land and their lives.”

In addition to the Quezon ambush, below are some of the most recent reports on the tactical offensives mounted by various NPA guerilla fronts and the people against the GRP’s fascist armed forces:

A few weeks after the 2 September successful ambush in Quezon province, NPA guerrillas scored another successful armed operation in the town of General Nakar (also in Quezon) last 27 September against the 80th IB killing one fascist soldier and wounding two others.

On 20 September, the NPA-Mindoro (province south of Manila), put a stop to an environmentally destructive quarrying operation of a company owned by a mayor of Bongabong town in the province. The guerrillas destroyed a payloader used in the quarrying site (open-pit extraction of stones and other minerals).

On 17 September, NPA Western Samar (Arnulfo Ortiz Command) ambushed and punished two spies of the 87th Army Infantry Battalion. On the third week of July, more than 30 Red fighters and officers of the NPA in Samar graduated from a basic military training which was successfully held amid continuous military operations in the area.

A people’s militia unit fired upon a police counterinsurgency forces at Sitio Kampoon, Barangay Batuhan, Masbate City on the night of 3 September, wounding at least three police officers were wounded in the operation.

On 23 August in Eastern Samar (central Philippines), guerrillas belonging the Sergio Lobina Command harassed troops of the 4th Scout Ranger Battalion leaving 4 killed and 3 others wounded.

On 30 August, NPA Central Negros Island fired at troops of the 62nd IB killing 1 fascist soldier and wounding two others.

On 27 July, Red fighters of the NPA-West Cagayan (northern Philippines) inflicted 8 casualties on the fascist troops of the 17th IB in Lasam, Cagayan province leaving many wounded from the enemy side. The operation, according to NPA-West Cagayan demonstrated the support of the masses in providing information and logistical support.
