Combined fascist troops of the 8th IB, 1st IB, and 5th Scout Ranger Battalion (SRB), units under the 203rd IBde. murdered Anhing “Ka Oca/Korne/Jumong/Harsi” Ingayan Da-it on July 9 in Sityo Santo Cristo, Barangay Lourdes, Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro.
The New People’s Army (NPA) unit that included Ka Oca was maneuvering when when they were engaged in a firefight. The Red fighters immediately returned fire. The NPA unit effectively defended themselves against the much stronger and larger fascist force.
Operating troops of the 203rd Bde captured Ka Oca alive after a bullet hit his thigh. Instead of arresting and treating him, they finished him off despite his hor de combat status, in clear violation of international humanitarian laws.
Ka Oca’s unit was in Magsaysay to conduct an investigation and consultation on the condition of rice and onion farmers.
Ka Oca/Korne/Jumong/Harsi was a skilled and veteran cadre of the Communist Party of the Philippines and a fighter of the NPA-Mindoro. He came from the indigenous Mangyan-Hanunuo tribe and had been active since the 1990s. He wholeheartedly served for decades, not only the indigenous Mangyan but also the entire Mindoreno and Filipino people.
“(H)is martyrdom is heavier than Mount Naapog,” Ka Madaay Gasic, spokesperson of the NPA-Mindoro (Lucio De Guzman Command), said. Ka Madaay added that the victories in land occupations, acknowledged by the masses in southern Mindoro as victories of the agrarian revolution, are woven into Ka Oca’s life and struggle.
Ka Oca shared in the hardships and sacrifices of defending against the AFP-PNP’s military campaigns, the NPA-Mindoro said, from Oplan Habol Tamaraw under the butcher Palparan, up to the focused and sustained military operations under the National Action Plan for Unity, Peace and Development of the fascist, puppet, oppressive, and corrupt Marcos Jr.
“He made the ultimate sacrifice of his only life to defend the indigenous Mangyan, the Mindorenos, and the entire nation,” Ka Madaay said.
Cleo del Mundo, spokesperson of the NPA-Southern Tagalog, also paid tribute to Ka Oca.
“Generations of indigenous Mangyan and Mindorenos should follow in the footsteps of Ka Oca, who selflessly offered his life to uphold revolutionary aspirations and contribute to building a society that will benefit his tribe, his class, and the next generations of Filipinos,” Ka Cleo said.
