The Valentin Palamine Regional Operations Command demands that the 39th Infantry Battation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (IB-AFP) immediately surface Serafin Tababa Embati, 47 years old, who was abducted in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur on the morning of 7 May 2010 by operatives of the 39th IB-AFP.
We also demand that Serafin Embati be accorded medical attention after the beating he got from the three military operatives who blocked the motorcycle he was riding and, in full view of the passersby, attacked him resulting to a possible major head injury.
Serafin Embati (Ka Lotlot) of Brgy. Nabundasan, Tulunan, North Cotabato is an NPA member who has long been grounded for health reasons. He was on his way to the hospital when accosted and mauled by the military in Magsaysay poblacion. Ka Lotlot, who is suffering from a severe kidney ailment could die in the hands of his captors if not immediately attended to by a physician.
We demand that the international humanitarian law be fully respected by the 39th IB-AFP. Particularly, we demand that the military respect Ka Lotlot's status as hors d' combat as stipulated in the Geneva Convention.
