On this occasion of International Working Women’s Day, Filipino women overseas under the banner of MAKIBAKA – Compatriots, an affiliated revolutionary organization of Compatriots – NDFP, express its revolutionary greetings to all women in the Philippines and across the world who are fighting against class exploitation, oppression, and imperialist aggression and war!
Today, we are witnessing another terrorist and criminal act of aggression against the people of Iran perpetuated by US imperialism and its fascist Zionist puppet Israel. Compatriots – NDFP together with its affiliated revolutionary organizations of Filipinos overseas, including MAKIBAKA – Compatriots, strongly condemn this recent act of US-Israel terrorism and military aggression!
This US-Israel military attack resulted in the murder of more than a thousand Iranian lives including women and 175 children, despite the positive developments at the negotiating table as earlier announced and mediated by Oman. This proves one thing, that US imperialism remains the number one terrorist!
The US-Israel war has now expanded across the Gulf region, especially those hosting US military bases. As Iran retaliated, several airports in the Gulf were closed and thousands of airline passengers were stranded, infrastructure were destroyed, and a Filipina migrant worker reportedly died in Israel. Even seafarers manning cargo and cruise ships are not spared by the conflicts as it affects sea routes in the region. In total, more than 2.4 million overseas Filipino workers—a majority of them women—have been put in the crosshair of war. And the livelihood of the tens of millions of family members that they support is now also in danger. The war will also bring massive economic disruption. The Philippines imports more than 90 percent of its oil from the Middle East. With oil prices already beginning to skyrocket, the cost of food and other basic needs will soon follow as import costs increase. The toiling masses will bear the brunt of this crisis.
Given Iran’s just retaliatory attacks against US bases hosted in other countries, more of the Filipino masses are waking up to the reality that the Philippines could be the next country dragged into US imperialist war, particularly against its rival China. US imperialism has made the Philippines its launching pad for military aggression in the Asia-Pacific region. The US and China conflict over Taiwan strait is a major concern. The US Congress recently passed the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes a five-year security assistance package totaling US$2.5 billion (US$500 million annually from 2026-2030) for the Philippines. This initiative is known as the Philippines Enhanced Resilience Act or PERA. The aid is paired with more than 500 joint military exercises to be held in the Philippines by both armies and other US allies in the region.
To further pivot the Philippines toward “external defense” as its forward base against China, US imperialism is hell-bent on crushing the just struggles of the toiling masses led by the revolutionary movement. The New Year bombing incident in Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro by the joint forces of the Philippine Army is just one example of the US-Marcos regime’s counterinsurgency war under the framework of its National Action Plan for Unity, Peace, and Development (NAP-UPD). This attack resulted in the death of civilians, including a researcher and three Indigenous Mangyan-Iraya children. Until now, the victims’ families are fighting for justice. Similar military campaigns in the Bicol region and Negros are being fiercely resisted by the New People’s Army and the masses defending their right to land and livelihood.
The revolutionary mass movement led by the Communist Party of the Philippines is the people’s best defense and only solution to beat back US-led fascism and war. It is the biggest obstacle to the US’ dragging the entire country into inter-imperialist war. Compatriots – NDFP calls on all Filipinos overseas to strengthen support to the people’s democratic revolution abroad, and to go back home and serve the revolution directly. And on this International Working Women’s Day, MAKIBAKA – Compatriots reaffirms the words of Lorena Barros, that the new Filipina is first and foremost a militant—Filipino women, our place is in the revolutionary struggle of the toiling masses!
Let us advance the people’s democratic revolution in the Philippines towards socialism to change the current semi-colonial and semi-feudal character of Philippine society into a genuine democratic, peaceful, and prosperous society free from imperialist control, class oppression, and exploitation.
Down with US-Marcos regime!
Down with US Imperialism!
Long live MAKIBAKA – Compatriots!
Long live Compatriots – NDFP!
Long live the Filipino people!
