[ Utrecht, The Netherlands ] The chairperson of the NDFP Human Rights Committee, Fidel V. Agcaoili, slammed the Philippine National Police’s Task Force Usig for claiming to have solved 21 cases of political killings in the past nine weeks.
He said the PNP’s Task Force Usig blaming the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and the New People’s Army (NPA) for the killings and abductions is meant to “sweep under the rug” the culpability of the Arroyo regime and its death squads for the murderous rampage.
“Like the Melo Commission, Task Force Usig has already absolved those directly responsible, such as butcher general Jovito Palparan and Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Gen. Hermogenes Esperon, even before the investigation could start,” Agcaoili emphasized. Agcaoili further declared, “The lies of Task Force Usig are contradicted by the testimonies of survivors and other witnesses who present the facts and circumstances which clearly point to the culpability of the military, the police and death squads of the Arroyo regime.”
Agcaoili, in an earlier press statement, has assailed as a “big sham” the Arroyo regime’s much-hyped investigation of extra-judicial killings, abductions and enforced disappearances.
“What is happening since Arroyo pledged to look into these cases (of political killings),“ he said, “is actually whitewashing, counter black propaganda, more deceptions, and worst of all, more extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances.
Agcaoili pointed to the deadly attack on Aglipayan Bishop Alberto Ramento last Oct. 3, just as the PNP was reporting on its supposed accomplishment, as an indication that the mock investigations are a cover up for the masterminds and executioners alike, and that the Arroyo fascist regime is gearing up for the escalation of extra-judicial killings.
