Recent events show clearly that the highest officials of the Arroyo regime are shameless puppets and have no sense of national honor and dignity.

De facto GRP president Gloria M. Arroyo and her national security adviser Norberto Gonzales are exposed in the Venable contract as seeking the intervention and funding from the US for charter change.

This is a treasonous act but it is described by executive secretary General Eduardo Ermita as a matter of national security to be kept secret from the Senate and the sovereign people.

As the chief factotum of the de facto president, Ermita has also arrogantly ventured into the turf of foreign secretary Alberto Romulo and proclaimed that the US government had some kind of valid information to label retired General Raymundo Jarque and his wife Xenia as "terrorists" and to degrade and humiliate them.

There is yet no public information whether the foreign secretary would file a diplomatic protest over the abuse inflicted on the Jarques by the US authorities despite the rightful demand of the Jarques and so many respected Filipino organizations.

The refusal of the Arroyo regime to make a diplomatic protest is not at all surprising. This regime has collaborated with the US in maliciously branding as “terrorists” the CPP, NPA, the NDFP chief political consultant Prof. Jose Maria Sison and now NDFP politico-military consultant General Raymundo Jarque.

The US and the GRP are hell bent on using the false charge of terrorism in order to inflict mischief and exert pressure on the NDFP panelists, consultants, staffers and other duly-authorized persons in the peace negotiations with the GRP.

If it does not cease to play the role of the running dog of the US, the GRP will only succeed in scuttling the peace negotiations. Until now, the NDFP is waiting in vain for satisfactory answers to the prejudicial questions it has raised over the US interference in the peace negotiations and violation of the people's national sovereignty.
