Amid severe crisis and hunger, the Pambansang Katipunan ng mga Mabubukid (PKM or National Peasants Alliance) called on the peasant masses to unite and act collectively to defend their rights and welfare.
According to PKM, to directly address the devastation, the peasants must maintain organization and perseverance. It said they must link up with the middle forces to generate significant support—for food and to continue tilling and production. Alongside this, the puppet regime must be held accountable for the lack of compensation for the ruin borne by the crisis.
“Fundamentally, the puppet regime and US imperialism must be weakened by waging the people’s democratic revolution,” the PKM stated. The PKM must respond to the call to increase recruitment for New People’s Army and the training of peasant mass activists for the people’s democratic revolution.
It also called for the immediate implementation and effective administration of the agrarian revolution to ensure food supply and other needs of the communities. It said mass organizations and village revolutionary committees must be built and re-established.
“Only the victory of the people’s democratic revolution with its socialist perspective will bring long-term solution and freedom from imperialist crisis worldwide,” PKM said.
