Students at the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology organized a protest in Iligan City in solidarity with the Palestinian people on October 22. Student members from the Kabataan Partylist-Iligan and other organizations and human rights defenders participated in what was dubbed the KASAMA Palestine Solidarity Program.
The protest began with a solidarity forum inside the campus where participants studied the systemic oppression of Palestinians and their resistance. This was followed by a Solidarity Walk from Rizal Park to the MSU-IIT Peace Park. Participants carried banners bearing the calls “Filipinos and Palestinians, unite to crush imperialism” and “Stop the US war machine.”
“Together, we reaffirm that the fight for justice knows no borders, and that every act of empathy and awareness strengthens our call for peace and liberation,” the students declared.
At the same time, the youth also voiced their opposition to the corruption and anomalies recently exposed in the country. They concluded the protest with a short program.
