We would like to clarify that RICHARD PARAS IS NOT A MEMBER OF THE NEW PEOPLE’S ARMY (NPA) as declared by the military. Richard Paras was ambushed-killed by the 402nd Division Reconnaisance Company of the Philippine Army in Lingin-Bato, Padiay, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur last 29 May 2011.
In 29 May 2011, a group of New People’s Army from Front 21 encountered a column from the Philippines Army’s 402nd DRC. Because the Comrades were not favourably positioned, two firearms were left behind when they withdrew. But nobody was killed among the Red Fighters.
The Comrades in Front 21 were then puzzled upon hearing the news that a Red Fighter was killed last 30 May 2011. They immediately investigated the news. Killed was a certain Richard Paras, single and 20 years old, according to the parents.
The army ambush of Richard Paras happened less than an hour after they encountered members of the NPA from Front 21. Richard came from Sityo Magkalatag, Padiay, Agusan del Sur going to New Tubigon, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur, where he would have to pass through the road in Lingin-bato. Richard Paras’ parents’ residence was registered as New Tubigon, Sibagat because they had just transferred residence in Magkalatag, Padiay, Agusan del Sur.
We reiterate that: the military’s declaration that Richard Paras is a member of the NPA is a big lie. He is also not 17 years of age but 20 years old.
We hope that the military will not make it difficult for the family of Richard to retrieve the body of their son. The military should own up to their mistake in killing Richard Paras. The military should shoulder all expenses for the proper burial of the body.

Mayo 29, 2011, naengkwentro sa usa ka grupo sa Bagong Hukbong Bayan sa Front-21 ang usa ka kolum sa 402nd DRC sa army. Tungod sa dili maayo nga posisyon sa mga Kauban, nabilin ang duha nila ka armas sa ilang pag-atras. Apan walay napatay sa bahin sa mga Pulang Manggugubat.
Natingala nalang ang mga Kauban sa Front-21 sa pagkahibalo nga dunay gibalita niadtong Mayo 30, 2011 nga napatay nga Pulang Manggugubat. Diha-diha naghimo sila og pakisusi. Ang napatay usa ka Richard Paras, ulitawo nga 20 anyos ang pangidaron, matod sa iyang ginikanan.
Nahitabo ang pag-ambus sa army kang Richard Paras, wala pay oras gikan sa pagka-engkwentro sa BHB sa Front21. Kini si Richard gikan sa Sityo Magkalatag, Padiay, Agusan del Sur kay moadto sa New Tubigon, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur ug moagi gyud siya sa karsada sa Lingin-bato. Ang rehistrado nga pinuy-anan sa ginikanan ni Richard Paras atua pa sa New Tubigon, Sibagat kay bag-o pa kini nagbalhin sa pagpuyo sa Magkalatag, Padiay, Agusan del Sur.
Sa makausa pa: usa ka dakung bakak ang gitagawtaw sa militar nga membro sa BHB si Richard Paraz. Dili usab kini 17 anyos kundili 20 na ang pangidaron.
Hinaut nga dili lisod-lisoron sa militar ang pamilya ni Richard sa pagkuha ug pagpahiluna sa patay’ng lawas sa ilang anak. Kinahanglan nga angkonon sa militar ang ilang kasaypanan sa pagpatay kang Richard Paras. Angay tubagon sa militar ang tanan galastohanan sa pagpahiluna sa patay’ng lawas.
