“A resounding slap in the face for the Marcos regime, the AFP, and especially the NTF-Elcac.” This is how the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) described the recent report by UN Special Rapporteur Irene Khan, as well as UN Special Rapporteur Morris Tidball-Binz and the Philippine UPR (Universal Periodic Review) Watch, which was reported to the UN Human Rights Council this June.
“Even abroad, the regime and its agents are caught clearly lying with regards to the human rights situation in the Philippines,” said Marco Valbuena, CPP chief information officer. “If Marcos has an ounce of shame before the international community, he would abolish the NTF-Elcac.”
“The UN special rapporteurs reports and recommendations prove that the NTF-Elcac is known in the international community as a major threat to the fundamental rights of the people,” Valbuena added.
“Marcos is holding on to the NTF-Elcac in his fascist aim to intensify political repression with the vile goal of crushing the people’s struggle to defend their welfare and fight for their aspirations.”
The NTF-Elcac is a monstrous scourge to the people. Together with the AFP, it conducts widespread and brutal repression of entire communities in the name of “peace” and “stability.”
In June alone, the AFP carried out a series of killings of civilians who refused to join the bogus E-CLIP program in Northern Samar and Negros. A child was also killed by operating soldiers in Borongan, Samar.
“Noel Lebico Sr, Arnel Aquino, and Nonoy Norcio, as well as Junjun Binoy, were all ordinary farmers who were killed in fabricated encounters and accused of being Red fighters,” according to Valbuena.
“There was also no reason to kill Jason Grafil Padullo, a Grade 7 student. Their killings are criminal and violate international laws.”
