The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) denounces Arroyo’s stepped-up Cha-cha (charter change) offensive and calls on the entire Filipino people to resist and defeat this devious megalomaniac scheme.
Knowing full well that only by extending her stay in Malacañang can she avoid the people’s prosecution and verdict, Arroyo is becoming more and more desperate to hold on to power beyond 2010. Arroyo's objective in pushing for Cha-cha is either to remove provisions in the present constitution that prohibit her from running again for president in 2010 or have the current presidential system transformed into a parliamentary system to pave the way for her to become prime minister.
