Welcome to the official website of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines. The NDFP is the revolutionary united front organization of the Filipino people fighting for national independence and for the democratic rights of the people.
Established on April 24, 1973, the NDFP seeks to develop and coordinate all progressive classes, sectors and forces in the Filipino people’s struggle to end the political rule of US imperialism and its local allies in the Philippines, and attain genuine national liberation and democracy.
The most important responsibilities of the NDFP include promoting national unity for the revolutionary struggle. It makes pronouncements on behalf of the revolutionary forces upon their authorization. It conducts proto-diplomatic and relations work abroad to gather moral, political and material support for the revolutionary movement.
Today, the NDFP is found in 70 provinces on the Philippines. The New People’s Army operates in more than 120 guerrilla fronts throughout the country. In these fronts, the people’s democratic power, the embryo of the future government, continues to be built and consolidated. Programs that benefit the people are carried out. These include literacy, health care, cooperatives and livelihood programs with the marked involvement of women and the youth.
Since 1992, the NDFP has been holding peace talks with the Government of the Republic of the Philippines to address the roots of the armed conflict. Ten Agreements have been signed between the two parties incuding the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law. At present, the current Philippine President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has suspended peace talks, thus putting into hold the discussions on the Comprehensive Agreement on Socio-Economic Reforms.
The NDFP International Office
In pursuing its international work, the NDFP maintains an information office in Utrecht, the Netherlands. This office is the center of information from the Philippine revolutionary movement to the international community and overseas Filipinos. It is a channel through which the international community and overseas Filipinos can extend their political and material support to the NDFP and the Philippine revolotionary movement.
