The 62nd IB soldiers are relentlessly terrorizing Central Negros towns and cities. At the height of the soldiers’ combat operations, cases of shooting, ransacking of homes, and intimidation of civilians were recorded.

On the night of June 23, trigger happy 62nd IB soldiers indiscriminately fired their weapons in Sitio Putat, Barangay Humay-humay in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental. Residents who were already resting suffered extreme fear and anxiety.

The following day, soldiers raided the house of Bobby Gemodo in Sitio Laos, Barangay Binobohan in the city. Ten 62nd IB soldiers in plainclothes reportedly went to the victim’s house to intimidate and threaten to kill him.

The soldiers also went to the house of Mario Noyad in Sitio Natae, Barangay Binalbagan, Canlaon City. The soldiers berated the victim for reporting to the police about them beating him a few days earlier.

Previoulsy, four 62nd IB soldiers in plainclothes stormed Noyad’s house and mauled him on June 19. They accused him of being a New People’s Army (NPA) supporter. The 62nd IB butchers forced him to cooperate in identifying NPA members in their area, threatening to kill him if he did not cooperate.
