Friends and comrades greet NDFP Chief Political Consultant and CPP founding Chairperson Professor Jose Maria Sison in Utrecht, 13 September 2007, after a Dutch district court ordered his release from prison. Dutch police arrested Prof. Sison 28 August on trumped-up charges of ordering the killing of Philippine military agents Romulo Kintanar and Arturo Tabara in 2003 and 2004, reespectively. Dutch police also attacked and ransacked the office of the NDFP In Utrecht and the homes of six Filipino political refugees.

The Netherlands Court of Appeals on 3 October 2007 subsequently upheld the release order of Prof. Sison, stating that there is no direct evidence to link Prof. Sison to the killings and that he is not a criminal perpetrator in any sense.
