Heeding the Party’s call, units of the New People’s Army in Eastern Visayas today performed a silent gun salute in honor of Luis “Ka Louie” Jalandoni, former NDFP chief negotiator and venerated communist leader who passed recently.
In the midst of unprecedented military operations and fascist terror by the AFP, the NPA units in its guerrilla zones reaffirmed their commitment to serving the people by remembering Ka Louie’s life as a resilient leader of the Philippine revolution, lover of peace, and committed internationalist.
The Red army expressed their gratitude for Ka Louie’s enormous contributions in carrying forward the people’s democratic revolution, most notably in the peace process with the GRP. He resolutely stood for human rights, agrarian revolution and a genuine people’s democratic government, among others, ideals which the NPA also seeks to achieve and defend in revolutionary areas.
The NPA-EMC noted how Ka Louie’s patriotism and devotion to the Filipino people starkly contrast the insatiable greed and subservience to US imperialism of all puppet regimes, Marcos Jr included. With one Oplan after another, they have all sabotaged the people’s aspiration for true freedom and democracy, with violent attempts to silence them or force their surrender.
Marcos Jr in particular now wields the National Action Plan for Unity, Peace and Development (NAP-UPD) and Memorandum Order Number 83—euphemisms for fascist state terrorism.
“In the wide Eastern Visayas countryside, the Marcos regime’s bogus peace plan is realized with open martial rule. It favors not the impoverished masses but the plunderous imperialists and their local cohorts,” the regional command said.
Throughout Ka Louie’s life, from his days as a young Catholic priest in Negros to his founding of the Christians for National Liberation and the NDFP, until his forced exile and death, he held fast to his deep faith and love for those most in need. It is because of this revolutionary love that no matter the ebb and flow, the highs and lows of revolutionary struggle, he remained its indefatigable stalwart to his very end.
“Ka Louie’s example is worthy of every revolutionary’s emulation. By this, we renew our devotion to the masses, to always rely and have faith in them most especially in the darkest of times, in the midst of the enemy’s fascist onslaught.”
It further called on the masses, especially the youth in the region, to serve the people and take up the cudgels of revolutionary struggle.
Members of revolutionary mass organizations of peasant, women and youth in the urban centers were also encouraged to assemble to read the Party Central Committee’s tribute to Ka Louie, and offer their own messages.
“The NPA and the entire revolutionary movement in Eastern Visayas look forward to the bright socialist future for which the lives of comrades such as Ka Louie have been offered,” the regional command ended.
