NDFP Willing to Cooperate with Patriotic and Progressive Government

Luis Jalandoni, Chairperson of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) Negotiating Panel, stated that the Panel welcomes the positive statements of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte regarding the NDFP, Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and New People’s Army (NPA).

He also expressed appreciation for Duterte’s positive actions in participating in the release of Prisoners of War in the custody of the NPA.

Jalandoni stated that the NDFP is willing to have relations of cooperation with a patriotic and progressive government that will carry out land reform, national industrialization and stand firmly for the independence and national sovereignty of the Filipino people. With such a patriotic and progressive government, the NDFP will be willing to have cooperation and truce.

Jalandoni made the above statement in response to City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s statement on cooperation with the NDFP.

With regards to Duterte’s offer of cabinet positions in the DAR, DSWD and DENR for NDFP officials, Jalandoni said: “We believe that there is sufficient number of outstanding persons in the legal democratic movement that could perform important functions in a patriotic and pro-people government. The NDFP officials do not have to join the patriotic and pro-people government, while having relations of cooperation and truce with it.”
