NDFP Negotiating Panel meets with Comrade Gaurav

The NDFP Negotiating Panel represented by Luis Jalandoni, Chairperson, and Fidel Agcaoili, Member, with Prof. Jose Maria Sison, Chief Political Consultant of the NDFP Negotiating Panel, met with Chandra Prakash Gajurel (popularly known as Comrade Gaurav), and an assistant, on 23 September 2008 in The Netherlands.

Comrade Gaurav is an elected member of the Constituent Assembly and a member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Nepal Maoist (CPN-M) in charge of its International Department. Comrade Gaurav came to international attention when he was arrested and imprisoned for three years by the Indian authorities and subsequently released, together with other Nepali prisoners in Indian jails, in November 2006, with the signing of the peace agreement between the CPN-M and the six-party alliance which eventually led to the overthrow of the monarchy and the establishment of the republic.

The NDFP Negotiating Panel and Comrade Gaurav had cordial discussions on their respective national situation and on the current economic and financial crisis facing the world capitalist system. They also had an exchange of views on the peace negotiations in their respective countries. They expressed the hope to be able to learn more from each other's experiences.
