Migrante-Austria would like to express our deep shock and sadness at the sudden death of Ka Fidel, the Chairperson of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) Peace Negotiating Panel.
Ka Fidel’s untimely death is an enormous loss not only to NDFP but for all of us on the left and for those involved in progressive movements, nationally and internationally.
With his death the entire working class movement has lost a militant and staunch fighter. Let us pledge to carry out his revolutionary ideals. Let this be a moment of taking the struggle forward, inspired by the life Ka Fidel has led.
Ka Fidel has fulfilled his duty as a man and leader with great honour. And, as Nelson Mandela says, “When a man has made contribution to humanity, he can rest in peace.”
