Message of Condolence from Japan Communist League

We, Japan Communist League, express our heartfelt condolence on the recent passing away of Comrade Fidel Agcaoili. We were very surprised to hear this sad news because he was very active just before his sudden death. We extend our deep sympathy to his family, friends and all Filipino comrades in homeland and abroad.

We recognize that Comrade Fidel was an outstanding revolutionary fighter who had dedicated his entire life to the interests of the people for over five decades, and one of leading members of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) since it was established on 1968. We praise his great contribution to the Filipino revolutionary movement and international anti-imperialist struggle. We also know well about his important role on the GRP-NDFP peace negotiations including his recent work as chairperson of the NDFP Negotiating Panel.

In addition, we remember Comrade Fidel’s contribution for building solidarity relationship between the Filipino and Japanese revolutionary movements. Especially from late 1980s to early 1990s, he often came to Japan for the above-mentioned purpose. Our solid comradely relationship that comrade Fidel contributed in building continues and grows for over 30 years since then. We also remember our common efforts with Comrade Fidel for launching regional anti-imperialist campaign in Asia-Pacific.

We are very proud that we could share the struggle for genuine social change based on international people’s solidarity with Comrade Fidel.

Comrade Fidel’s legacy will surely be passed onto the younger generation. People of the Philippines and the rest of the world will build a new and better world free from imperialism, which Comrade Fidel wished for.

Long live the memory of Comrade Fidel Agcaoili!
Long live Filipino and Japanese revolutionary movements!
Long live international people’s solidarity!
Fight against imperialism and for socialist future!
