Comrade Jan Beentjes, after many years of solidarity for the Filipino people and other oppressed peoples as aptly presented by Comrade Joma, capped his service to the Filipino people, by placing their struggle for national and social liberation in his will and testament. For this, we are deeply grateful to Jan and his family.

Comrade Jan studied with us the revolutionary attitudes that a comrade should have. But more importantly, his concrete practice in boundlessly serving the Filipino people, his comradely help to comrades in need, his attitude towards taking responsibility for his revolutionary work and his proletarian internationalism, has left a lasting imprint among us, his Filipino comrades.

Comrade Jan was an avid student of Marxist studies. He studied and discussed with Comrade Joma, important and relevant topics such as, dialectical materialism, historical materialism, political economy and imperialism.

He was very interested in studying the Filipino people’s history and ongoing struggles. He could not go to the Philippines, as he wished, because of his allergy to heat. But he consistently kept himself abreast of the concrete conditions of the revolutionary struggle of the people.

He had started to prepare a study with power point of Comrade Joma’s book, Philippine Society and Revolution, which presents the history of the people, their basic problems of imperialism, feudalism and bureaucrat capitalism, the class ananlysis of Philippine society, and the program for a people’s democratic revolution.

We shall sorely miss Comrade Jan but his revolutionary legacy and noble memory will remain with us. It is very proper that today, together with his family and loved ones, we celebrate his life.

Mabuhay ang rebolusyonaryong buhay at alaala ni Kasamang Jan Beentjes!

Long live the revolutionary legacy and memory of Comrade Jan Beenjes!
