In a recent statement, 3rd ID commander MGen. Michael Samson drooled about the so-called “irreversible trend of decline and defeat” of the revolutionary armed struggle in Negros in the light of the series of punitive actions launched by Apolinario Gatmaitan Command-New People’s Army (AGC-NPA)’s North and Central guerilla fronts.
This empty braggadocio runs counter to the actual situation in the field.
This month alone, the NPA in Negros was able to launch five punitive actions in Calatrava, Toboso, Himamaylan City, all in Negros Occidental; and in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental; wiping out six military spies and nefarious criminals serving as crucial adjunct to 3rd ID’s fascist war machinery.
Several firearms and ammunition were seized from these pernicious elements, as well as, devices containing information of high intelligence value.
On top of these, it launched a harassment action in Guihulngan City that killed three fascist soldiers.
Samson’s statement is intended to stroke the egos of his thinly stretched, tired and demoralized troops as one focused military operation (FMO) after another ended up in utter failure to decisively crush the NPA and destroy the revolutionary movement. Even in defensive engagements, NPA units in Negros managed to recapture, initiate and launch counter-offensives frustrating the scheme of attacking enemies.
Setbacks and losses are only temporary like the sacrifices of the gallant revolutionary martyrs of Candoni and Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental. The lessons etched in their blood will inspire revolutionaries to intensify the struggle and more Negrosanons will thrudge the road of armed resistance.
The people’s war in Negros continues to move forward and thread the irreversible trend towards full recovery and advance as the Third Rectification Movement initiated by the Communist Party of the Philippines further deepen its roots in Negros Island and reinvigorate the revolutionary forces.
