June 20, 2023

The National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) sends its sincerest condolences to comrades of the Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada CPC(M-L) for the passing of comrade Roger Carter. A working-class champion and a prominent stalwart against imperialist wars of aggression, Comrade Roger will be deeply missed by the international workers’ movement.

Comrade Roger’s political development began when he first joined the anti-war movement in support of the Vietnamese people’s aspiration for national liberation in the 1960s. He later joined the Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada in 1973 and worked as a volunteer in the Party’s printing press for almost four decades. He also built a long career as a proud postal worker with the Canada Post and a member of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).

On many occasions, Comrade Roger would send his solidarity and unwavering support to the Philippine struggle for national and social liberation. The Philippine revolutionary movement appreciates his contributions to the struggles of the Filipino people and will forever remember his warmth and dedication.

Comrade Roger’s lifelong commitment to the workers’ movement in Canada and anti-imperialist struggle in the Philippines and elsewhere inspires us to continue working for a just and lasting peace.

Long live Comrade Roger Carter!
Long Live the Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada!
Long Live International Solidarity!
