Filipino people’s tribute to Comrade Don Ross

By LUIS G. JALANDONI
NDFP Chief International Representative

The Filipino people’s movement for national and social liberation conveys its heartfelt condolences on the passing away of Comrade Don Ross, a good friend and supporter of the Filipino people in our struggle for freedom, genuine independence, democracy and social liberation.

We recall with gratitude his welcoming solidarity for Crispin “Ka Bel” Beltran, Marie Hilao-Enriquez and other Filipino visitors from the legal democratic movement in the Philippines. These Filipino visitors experienced the warm welcome of Don in Whangerei. One of them was deeply impressed by him and she said, “Don Ross is the amazing 81-year old Bolshevik.” Don not only acted as host and tour guide, he also generously conveyed his constructive criticism and political suggestions.

Don was also a proletarian internationalist. He was active in the Campaign Against Foreign Control of Aotearoa.

We honor Comrade Don Ross as a true friend of the Filipino people. We likewise honor him as a staunch proletarian fighter for justice and a comrade in struggle against US imperialism.

Long live the proletarian internationalist spirit and legacy of Comrade Don Ross!
Long live the solidarity between the people of Aotearoa and the Filipino people!
Long live the worldwide revolutionary and anti-imperialist solidarity!
