The Communist Party of the Philippines, through its newspaper, Ang Bayan, called on the Filipino people to strongly oppose the unprovoked terrorist attack of the Zionist state of Israel and the imperialist US on Iran and its people.
“We are united with all forces and peoples around the world who advocate for peace and respect the sovereignty of nations and international law,” the CPP said.
On June 22, early morning in Iran, the US, under the order of its president Donald Trump, bombed the three main nuclear facilities of Iran: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The US used six B-2 stealth bombers that dropped 30,000-pound bombs called “bunker busters” to destroy the underground facilities that generate power.
Despite no evidence, Trump insists that Iran is using these facilities to create nuclear weapons. In addition, the US Navy also launched Tomahawk cruise missiles from submarines as part of a coordinated offensive.
The CPP strongly condemned this bombing, which followed more than a week of relentless attacks by Israel, using jet fighters, missiles, and drones.
The bombing is a “blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and a serious breach of international law,” according to CPP chief information officer Marco L. Valbuena.
“The ‘preemptive strikes’ carried out by the US and Israel are based on the same lies used by the imperialist US before about ‘weapons of mass destruction’ to justify the invasion of Iraq and the ousting of Saddam Hussein, 20 years ago,” said Valbuena.
“The strategic objective of the attack by Israel and the US on Iran is to impose US imperialist hegemony in the Middle East and control the vast oil resources of the region.”
The CPP warned of the danger of a wider war in the region, which will surely affect millions of civilians, including Filipino migrant workers.
“All democratic forces in the world should support Iran, as well as the Palestinian people, in fighting the US-Israeli war machine currently ravaging the Middle East to subjugate countries to their power and force them surrender their freedom,” said the CPP.
On its part, the CPP said it will continue to strengthen the NPA and the armed struggle throughout the country.
“The people’s war and revolutionary movement are the strongest weapons of the Filipino people to fight the puppet Marcos regime, prevent its plan to drag the country into the war instigated by the imperialist masters, and fight for the true freedom of the country,” it said.
