Communist Party of the Philippines and Filipino people condemn attacks in Mumbai

By Communist Party of the Philippines

On behalf of the revolutionary forces and people in the Philippines, the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) condemns in the strongest terms the acts of terror and wanton killings carried out since Wednesday evening in Mumbai, India by a group calling itself the "Deccan Mujahideen." Over 125 have already been killed and many more hurt in the indiscriminate attacks and hostage-taking of innocent civilians in Mumbai. The CPP and the revolutionary movement in the Philippines express their sympathy and extend their condolences to the victims, their relatives and the Indian people.

These acts of terror run counter to the interests of the Indian people. They do not in any way advance the aspirations of the Indian people to put an end to widespread poverty, imperialist domination and the reactionary ruling class exploitation and oppression of the vast masses of the workers, peasants and other toiling people in India.

The attacks only pave the way for the imperialists, especially the US, to intensify their intervention and strengthen their military and political position in India and the South Asian region. US and Indian security services have automatically been quick to point the finger at "Pakistan-based agents". The US will definitely take advantage of these attacks to justify positioning troops in India and Pakistan and the escalation of its interventionist war in Afghanistan and the South Asian region, in accordance with US president-elect Barack Obama's plans.

The CPP is confident that the Mumbai terror attacks will not draw the Indian people's attention and strength away from their revolutionary struggle that is advancing in great strides in the Indian countryside. Only with the advance of their people's war and eventual attainment of revolutionary victory will the Indian people achieve complete national and social liberation.
