The Magtanggol Roque Command of the New People's Army calls the latest 'trophy' of the 10th Infantry Division of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as a pathetic spin. 10th ID-AFP spokesperson Lt. Col. Medel Aguilar recently declared that the AFP captured a "high-ranking NPA leader" in the region in the person of one Percival Manimog a.k.a. Bingbong during a supposed AFP combat operation, Monday, September 6 in Monkayo, Compostela Valley.

While Manimog has denied the charges against him and has pointed out that he's been inactive since 2006, Lt. Col. Aguilar insisted otherwise. In a media conference, Aguilar presented Manimog as an active NPA leader and made him the AFP's latest prized trophy.

This incident only shows Lt. Col. Aguilar's desperation to show even just a morsel of success in the regime's counter-revolutionary war amid the recent AFP battlefield defeats — through lies and misrepresentations.

For one, Manimog, a former NPA member, has long been out of the revolutionary movement; second, the AFP is making up false identities to corrupt funds from the AFP social integration program. Only the corrupt-ridden AFP bureaucracy can concoct this latest misrepresentation in order to gain propaganda points and siphon people's money.
