Not long after the five supporters of former Philippine president Joseph “Erap” Estrada exposed Malacañang’s fabrication of an assassination plot to kill Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the spin doctors in Malacañang — Norberto Gonzales, Mike Defensor, General Ebdane and Raul Gonzalez — have come up with a new assassination plot targeting Arroyo and 15 other government officials. Their source of information on said plot this time is a fake one-page “NPA 37th anniversary statement” which was circulated by Malacañang yesterday morning.

Not long after the five supporters of former Philippine president Joseph “Erap” Estrada exposed Malacañang’s fabrication of an assassination plot to kill Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the spin doctors in Malacañang — Norberto Gonzales, Mike Defensor, General Ebdane and Raul Gonzalez — have come up with a new assassination plot targeting Arroyo and 15 other government officials. Their source of information on said plot this time is a fake one-page “NPA 37th anniversary statement” which was circulated by Malacañang yesterday morning.
The earlier spin was exposed by torture victim Ruben Dionisio and other Erap supporters. The Macapagal Arroyo regime wanted Dionisio and his companions to admit to being part of an alleged plot to kill Arroyo and some members of her cabinet. The alleged plot was supposedly hatched up by the Communist Party of the Philippines together with Jose Maria Sison, Vic Ladlad, Benjie Oliveros and two others. Again, the military and police of the Arroyo regime presented false affidavits signed by Arnel S. Alonzo and Rafael G. Cruz.
This Malacañang-fabricated “NPA 37th anniversary statement” allegedly targeting Arroyo and 15 other government officials is meant to prepare the ground for further political killings. Prof. Sison and Vicente Ladlad, both political consultants of the NDFP Negotiating Panel, are among those charged by the Arroyo regime with rebellion. Sotero Llamas, NDFP political consultant, was murdered by motorcycle-riding assassins last May 29. Rep. Rafael Mariano, National Chairman of Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP, Peasant Movement of the Philippines), Danilo Ramos, General Secretary of KMP, both of whom have participated in consultations on social and economic reforms with the NDFP Negotiating Panel, and Rep. Mariano’s lawyer, Atty. Jobert Pahilga, have been followed by motorcycle-riding agents identified as personnel of the cowardly killer of unarmed civilians, General Jovito Palparan.
The exposé of the latest Malacañang spin concerning the alleged NPA anniversary statement, in no way means the exculpation of the Arroyo regime of the high crimes of numerous extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances and frustrated killings, now occurring almost on a daily basis and being condemned widely in the Philippines and internationally.
The spin machine of the Arroyo regime seems to be working overtime. Now, the latest fabrication from the Arroyo regime is the claim of Major Jose Broso, spokesperson of the AFP’s Southern Luzon Command that they found a CPP document in the house of Manuel Zed and his son in Tagkawayan, Quezon. This document is said to order the purge of those who infiltrated the movement and to order attacks against legal left organizations. Manuel Zed and his son were earlier reported to have been abducted by the military.
By spinning lies after lies, the Arroyo regime aims to hide the truth and justify the political killings. It also seeks to divert the attention of the people from fundamental issues such as massive electoral fraud, corruption, subservience to US and other foreign powers, freezing of wages, raising of taxes like the Expanded Value-Added Tax (EVAT), and massive unemployment. These criminals in Malacañang, in the Cabinet Oversight Committee for Internal Security, aim to also confuse and divide the Broad United Front against the Arroyo regime.
No amount of cheating and lying, which come so easy for the despicable Arroyo regime, can ever stop the Filipino people from persevering in their struggle for genuine freedom, democracy and a just and lasting peace.
