Advance agrarian revolution in Hacienda Luisita!

The Pambansang Katipunan ng mga Magbubukid (PKM), an allied revolutionary peasant organization of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), today called on all farm workers of Hacienda Luisita to further advance agrarian revolution in the vast estate owned by, President Aquino’s family, the Cojuangco-Aquino clan in the province of Tarlac.

The PKM-NDFP issued the statement after reports alleged that eight magistrates of the Supreme Court voted to grant the motion for reconsideration of the Presidential Agrarian Reform Council and the farmers’ group Ambala during the high tribunal’s regular en banc session on Tuesday.

“Now more than ever, farmers must strengthen their resolve to further advance agrarian revolution in Hacienda Luisita and across the country,” says PKM-NDF spokesperson Andres Agtalon adding: “Hacienda Luisita farm workers should not rely on the Supreme Court decision.”

“Placing Hacienda Luisita under the government’s anti-peasant Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) and the subsequent CARP Extension with Reforms (CARPER) is nothing but another deception and money-making scheme of the Cojuangco-Aquinos,” he said. “CARPER is the successor of the very same anti-peasant policy used by the Cojuangco-Aquinos that denied Hacienda Luisita farm workers of their rightful and legitimate claim over the lands,” Agtalon said adding: “Hacienda Luisita farmers must remain vigilant. The Cojuangco-Aquinos will never simply let go of Hacienda Luisita, the feudal base of their economic and political power.” The PKM-NDFP spokesperson said that “CARPER is designed to weaken the revolutionary struggle of peasants and further strengthen the monopoly and control of big landlords over vast tracts of lands.” “Intensifying the anti-feudal struggle, agrarian revolution alongside the armed struggle will break the monopoly and control of big landlords and foreign agribusinesses in the country like the Cojuangco-Aquinos over Hacienda Luisita,” Agtalon said.
