Through persistent efforts, the Lakas ng Nagkakaisang Manggagawa sa Fuji Electric Philippines Inc (LNMFEPI), federated with OLALIA-KMU, won wage increases and other benefits for the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The negotiation between the union and company management ended on July 17.
The union successfully negotiated for an annual increase of ₱50 in wages from 2025 to 2027. Another important provision of the CBA introduces seniority pay for workers. They also secured allowances for rice, food, leave, and other benefits.
A few hours before the CBA negotiations’ official conclusion, union members held a forum and noise barrage inside the workplace. They condemned the capitalist’s underpayment and the resulting delay in negotiations.
“Workers again proved through lessons and experience that the capitalist will not grant demands unless faced with action and unity,” according to the union’s statement. The union emphasized that only collective action can compel the capitalist to give what workers deserve.
For the union, the signing of the new CBA in their company marks not only a victory for their workers but also a “major victory” for all workers across the Carmelray Industrial Park I enclave, where the company is. The enclave, located in Barangay Canlubang, Calamba City, hosts companies in electronics, chemicals, automotive, food processing, and industrial manufacturing.
The concluded negotiation for the new CBA marks the fifth round of talks between the union and company management since 2014.
The Metal Workers Alliance of the Philippines (MWAP) and Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan)-Laguna congratulated the union for its successful CBA.
“The union’s workers showed determination in fighting for their rights despite the deepening crisis of the capitalist system,” according to Bayan-Laguna. The group also hopes the Fuji Electric workers’ victory will inspire all workers to strengthen the union movement in the province and nationwide.
