KM-Central Negros salutes Ka Louie Jalandoni, an exemplary and valiant communist leader

The Kabataang Makabayan (KM) -Central Negros and the entire revolutionary forces in Central Negros offer its highest salute to Ka Luis Jalandoni, an exemplary revolutionary and valiant communist leader who is of great value, not just to the Negrosanon and Filipino people, but to the entire oppressed and exploited class all over the world.

No argument can refute the fact that Ka Louie Jalandoni dedicated most of his life alongside the oppressed class. Even before he was organized, Ka Louie had already etched a special place for the poor in his heart.

As a priest, not only did he preach about helping those who needed assistance, but he also practiced it through joining the “Church to the Barrios” program where he immersed himself in rural communities, especially in areas where social services were scarce.

Witnessing the reality of the marginalized sector drowned in continuous exploitation and oppression, Ka Louie saw the necessity of the national democratic revolution.

Christian’s for National Liberation (CNL) was founded, an ally organization of the National Democractic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), where Ka Louie was one of its pillars. It was composed of religious workers like himself. Later on, he joined the Communist Party of the Philippines.

Through crest and troughs, he kept on standing at the right side of the history — along with the Filipino people pushing for genuine agrarian reform and national Industrialization.

His selflessness went beyond the national platform as he gathered support from other countries. Consequently, he became the International Representative of the NDFP and died fervently performing his revolutionary tasks.

In Negros, Ka Louie Jalandoni was well-known, not just because he came from a family of sugar baron, but because he was well-loved by the masses. Ka Louie’s remarkable contribution includes arousing, organizing, and mobilizing the Negrosanon farmers which led to the establishment of National Federation of Sugarcane Workers in Negros. Time and time again, Ka Louie’s words and actions only proves that he considered the welfare of the Filipino masses ahead of himself.

Ka Louie’s name will be forever etched in the rich history of the struggle of the Filipino people. As successors, we will continue to live by the spirit of international and communism left by Ka Louie Jalandoni as we cherish his great contributions for the advancement of the National Democratic Revolution.

Inspired by his life and works, millions of Filipinos will rise like a mighty storm that no power, however great, will be able to hold it back.
