Dear comrades,
The National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), including the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and its 17 allied revolutionary organizations, extends their militant and warmest fraternal greetings of solidarity to the Workers World Party (WWP) on the occasion of its 2014 National Conference on 15-16 November in New York City.
We commend your holding of this conference with the theme “Developing a Perspective and Strategy for the Struggle for Revolutionary Socialism”.
Your conference theme is most timely and relevant as the global crisis continues to bring new and higher waves of resistance and struggles in various countries in the world inlcuding the US.
The political discussions you will hold will further unite and consolidate your ranks in the great task ahead of raising revolutionary struggle of the working class and other oppressed people in the US.
We are pleased that since 1959 under the leadership of Comrade Sam Marcy, the Workers World Party has worked consistently to advance revolutionary struggle within the US. We are also heartened by your proletarian internationalism as expressed in your solidarity with struggles of immigrants and migrants in the US and the liberation movements throughout Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
The global crisis of imperialism continues to worsen and desperately unleashes economic, political and military offensives against the oppressed peoples of the world. Neoliberalism and war remain at the core of US imperiliasm’s strategy to resolve its downward spiral and maintain its global dominance.
The US under Barack Obama is aggressively pushing for the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) that will aggresisvely advance neoliberal globalization policies that plunder resources – human and natural – of many countries. At the same time, it is implementing its rebalancing strategy with its pivot to Asia in order to expand and consolidate its military presence in the region to promote its economic interest while attempting to contain the influence of other superpowers such as China.
The impacts of the mulitple and extended crisis is intensifying sharply inside the United States. The people are forced to contend wth deepening poverty and hunger, rising unemployment and homelessness, intensifying jobs crisis and eroding social services. Meanwhile, finance and industrial capital with the military and prison industrial complexes continue to dominate the US economy and produce superprofits for the ruling elite at the expense of life, livelihood, and freedom of working class inside US.
As the economic crisis worsens, US imperialism has unmasked itself to its own people. While it deceptively banners freedom, human rights and democracy on its wars of aggression and intervention in other countries, the workers, people of color, migrants, immigrants, women and LGBTQ in the US are at the receiving end of state fascism, police brutality and violence brought by unmitigated discrimination, racism and xenophobia.
We see this most recently with the ongoing killings targeting young Black men like Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, and Michael Brown and the martial law being imposed by the racist police in Ferguson, Missouri. The vestiges of the violent and exploitative Transatlantic Slave Trade that produced the very super-profits upon which US imperialism was built are still evident inside the United States.
With the multiple and extended crisis of imperialism on a rampage, the upsurge of peoples struggles in the world is imminent. The people are awakening and confronting the roots causes of their miseries and are seeking for fundamental solutions to the capitalist crisis.
In the Philippines, the national democratic revolution continues to advance and the people are looking forward to establishing a bright socialist future. The revolutionary forces continue to build strength nationally to oppose the semi-colonial and semi-feudal system, enjoin compatriots abroad to support and take part in the struggle, and garner the solidarity and support of the people and revolutionary movements all over the world.
We look forward to the success of your conference as you strive to unite the working and other exploited class and sectors inside the US to engage in arduous and thoroughgoing revolutionary struggle to defeat the capitalist system and build socialism
The revolutionary movement in the Philippines shall continue to to stand and work beside you and the oppressed people of the world to fight neoliberal globalization, fascism, racism and all kinds of reaction in order to finally bring down monopoly capitalism and usher in socialism.
Long live the Workers World Party!
Long live the national democratic revolution in the Philippines!
Long live international solidarity!
In solidarity,
National Democratic Front of the Philippines
